A winner for the yard at Kelso on Wednesday

TD9 Racing
Eden Mill is surrounded by joyful connections in the winners enclosure

He's been knocking on the door with some fine runs over the last year, but Wednesday was the day for Eden Mill who recorded a victory in the 2m 5f handicap hurdle. The favourite Secret Secret probably ran his race but a combination of the softer going and an 11lb hike in the weights probably took its' toll as he came home 12 lengths back in 4th.
Not that we were complaining because the TD9 Racing clan were able to cheer home their favourite from some way out, as Eden Mill, with Craig hogging that stands side rail, ran out comfortable winners.

Our other runners on the card didn't fare quite so well.
Nights In Venice travelled well in the staying handicap but weakened tamely approaching the last. He finished in 6th place.

Enemy At The Gate can be thought of as the winner that got away.
Starting favourite in the 5 runner 2m 6½f handicap hurdle, he travelled well, close to the pace set by the eventual winner Ballin Bay.
However, our gelding began to jump clumsily over the last 5 hurdles. Still holding every chance approaching the last, with that pair well clear, another less than fluent leap just about put paid to his chances and he finished runner up, beaten just over a length - 18 lengths back to the third horse.

Not quite as good a run as we'd expected

Last Thursday at Newcastle, we had another beaten favourite, this time when So Many Roads could only finish 4th in the staying handicap hurdle at Newcastle.
He was another of our horses to be seemingly travelling very well at the 3rd last but found little when challenged by the eventual winner Tune In A Box, to whom he was conceding 17lb.
That may well turn out to have been a sizeable task given the likely progression of this Tom Lacey trained Jukebox Jury gelding but it was more the style of So Many Roads' finishing effort that had us scratching our heads.

Oh well.....
